Fresh from the success of Family Ties, Gary David
Goldberg created this nostalgic series set in Brooklyn,
New York, 1956, where 14-year-old Alan Silver lived with
his parents, George and Phyllis, along with his little
brother, Nathaniel. Living above his family were Alan's
maternal grandparents, Jules and Sophie Berger. The
series was inspired by Goldberg's childhood in Brooklyn.
