Three studio contestants had to come up with questions to
fit the answers given in their choice of categories. The
game began with the "Jeopardy!" round consisting of six
categories, each containing five questions worth between
$10 and $50. Players rang in after the answer was revealed
and all replies had to be phrased in the form of questions.
The player giving the last correct question took control
of the board and determined the next answer to be revealed
as well as its corresponding dollar amount. Players giving
wrong answers had the value of the questions deducted from
their scores. Behind one of the spaces on the board was a
"Daily Double," in which players could risk any or all of
their earnings based on their ability to come up with the
question for the next answer revealed. A second round,
"Double Jeopardy!"," featured six new categories with the
value of the answers doubled ($20 to $100),, and the
board held two "Daily Doubles." In the third round, "Final
Jeopardy!", all three players were given the opportunity
to risk all or part of their day's earnings based on his
or her ability to answer one final question. Contestants
were given the category, made their wagers, and gave their
final answers, made sure they were in the form of a question.
The top scoring player returned to compete against two new
players on the next show. Players who won for five
consecutive days retired as undefeated champions.
September 9, 1974 - September 7, 1975, "Jeopardy!", began
airing once a week in a nighttime syndicated version. Art
Fleming returned to host the show. The only change in the
show was the addition of a bonus round that the day's
champion played after "Final Jeopardy!" He or she chose
from amnog thirty numbers, each of which revealed a
bonus prize and one number concealed a $25,000 jackpot.

The format of the game remains the same. Cash amounts in
the "Jeopardy!" round increased, ranging from $100 to $500
and in "Double Jeopardy!" round ranging from $200 to $1000.
Only the day's winner recevies the cash, and the other two
players receive consolation gifts. Undefeated champions
return for the yearly tournament of champions.
