Called "the best new show of the 1998-99 season" by
the New York Times and awarded Best New Comedy
Series by Viewers for Quality Television, Sports
Night was both a comedy and a drama--exploring
issues of love, friendship, office politics,
and the human condition.
This groundbreaking series that centers on the
behind-the-scenes frenzy of a nightly, cable sports
show. The show's co-anchors, Dan and Casey,
are best friends on and off camera, and are
surrounded by a team of producers and staff who
have very complex professional and personal
relationships. Each week these characters support
each other with intelligence, humor and wit through
both their triumphs and defeats--and always with
dialogue that's crackling and a bit cynical--
but ultimately deeply revealing.
When sports news breaks, the team at "Sports Night"
is there to report it. Coached by an experienced
executive producer, they try to steer their upstart
Continental Sports Channel program to victory
over the other cable sports networks.
